On Feb. 12, Pittsburgh Steelers' head coach Mike Tomlin will be the keynote speaker at the gala for the opening of the Eddie Robinson Museum, named in memory of the College Football Hall of Fame coach. The ribbon cutting will take place the following day at 10 a.m. Robinson spent 57 years at Grambling State University and won a then NCAA record 408 games. College Football Hall of Fame coach Joe Paterno’s glasses will be auctioned off as part of an auction by Penn State Public Broadcasting. Paterno is also feature on the cover of Sporting News which hit newsstands today. College Football Hall of Famer and 1984 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Doug Flutie (Boston College), 1984 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Gregg Carr (Auburn) and Jack Del Rio (USC) were recipients the NCAA Silver Anniversary Award. 1985 NFF National-Scholar athlete Kent Austin accepted the head coaching position at Cornell. Austin previously served as offensive coordinator at his alma mater, Ole Miss. College Football Hall of Famer and 1985 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Tim Green (Syracuse) has accepted the head coaching job at Skaneateles (N.Y) High School. Houston promoted 2002 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Kliff Kingsbury (Texas Tech) 2009 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Tim Hiller (Western Michigan) is playing for the Nation in the Texas vs. The Nation All-Star game. (Feb. 6, CBS College, 2 p.m. EST) NFF National Scholar-Athlete semifinalist Mike Nixon (Arizona State) was award the NFF Valley of the Sun Chapter’s post graduate scholarship and will be honored at the chapter’s annual awards banquet on March 6. The NFF Orange County Chapter will hold its 40th awards banquet on March 1. The chapter will honor 61 scholar-athletes and newly inducted College Football Hall of Fame Coach John Robinson will serve as the keynote speaker. The NFF Westchester County (NY) Chapter held it 37th Annual Scholar-Athlete Banquet on Jan. 28, honoring 36 high school scholar-athletes and bringing its all-time scholarship distributions to more than $400,000. Berlin High School coach John Capodice has been named the NFF Northern Connecticut chapter coach of the year. He will be honored at the chapter's annual banquet May 16th, 2010 at the Aqua Turf in Southington CT. The Baylor-TCU game scheduled for Sept. 4 has been moved to Sept. 18 in Fort Worth... Arkansas will host UTEP on Nov. 13... Maryland will host Morgan State in 2010... The Auburn-Mississippi State game has been moved to Sept. 9 in Starkville on ESPN... Washington State and UNLV will play at Qwest Field in Seattle in 2011... Arizona State’s game against UCLA in Tempe has been moved to Nov. 26 and its game against rival Arizona has been moved to Dec. 2 on ESPN ... The Texas-Texas Tech game will be played on Sept. 18 in Lubbock on ABC. To accommodate the change, the Red Raiders’ game against TCU has been moved to a future schedule... Iowa State will open Big 12 play against Kansas State at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on Sept. 18 and its game against Utah has been moved to Oct. 9... Kansas State’s game against Nebraska has been moved to Oct. 7 and will be aired on ESPN. The Wildcats will play at North Texas on Nov. 27... Western Kentucky and Hawaii will play in 2012. Antonio L. Argiz was installed as the 72nd President & Chairman of the Board of the Orange Bowl Committee on Thursday. Jeffrey T. Roberts moved into Argiz’s previous role as Chairman-Elect... Minnesota coach Tim Brewster accepted a two-year extension... Joe Susan has accepted the head coaching position at Bucknell... Texas State head coach Brad Wright signed an extension through 2012... Middle Tennessee coach Rick Stockstill’s contract has been extended through 2016... Matt Campbell has been promoted to offensive coordinator at Toledo... Ole Miss offensive line coach Mike Markuson added the title of co-offensive coordinator and will share that title with newly hired coach Dave Rader... Tony Jeffery will be the wide receivers/special team coordinator at UT-San Antonio... Mike Canales is the new offensive coordinator at North Texas... Bill Lazor accepted the offensive coordinator position at Virginia. College Football Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow Sr. (Missouri) and Northwest Missouri State coach Mel Tjeerdsma have been named to the 2010 state of Missouri Sports Hall of Fame... 1972 NFF National-Scholar Athlete Fred Radke (Dartmouth) and Dave Cloutier (Maine) have been named members of the 35th class of the state of Maine Sports Hall of Fame... The Louisville Sports Commission unveiled the Paul Hornung Award, which will be given to college football’s most versatile player. Hornung won the 1965 Heisman Trophy and is a College Football Hall of Famer... Villanova linebacker Osayi Osunde has been named the CAA Football Student-Athlete of the Year... Former Villanova quarterback Tom Colombo will be induced into the Varsity Club Hall of Fame on February 12... Andy Dalton (TCU), Kyle Padron (SMU), James Cleveland (Houston), Jeremy Avery (Boise State), Jonathan Baldwin (Pittsburgh), Brian Rolle (Ohio State), Cameron Heyward (Ohio State), DeVier Posey (Ohio State) and Dane Sanzenbacher (Ohio State) will receive the Touchdown Club of Columbus’ Award of Distinction... Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs will be honored tonight at the annual Philadelphia Sportswriters Dinner for being the MVP during the 2009 Army-Navy game. The Regents of the University of California gave formal approval for the renovation of California’s Memorial Stadium... 17 players on Penn State’s football team finished with a 3.5 GPA or higher and were named to the Dean’s List. Another 50 recorded a GPA of 3.0 or higher... North Carolina’s spring game will be telecast on ESPN on April 10... Eastern Washington is planning to install red turf on its field in Cheney, Wash... Former first lady Laura Bush and recently retired College Football Hall of Fame coach Bobby Bowden (Florida State) spoke at a business seminar at the Pensacola Civic Center on Wednesday... The state Board of Regents approved Arizona’s plan to renovate Arizona Stadium, allowing the university to begin raising private funds... College Football Hall of Fame coach Frank Kush (Arizona State) will participate in a discussion at ASU’s West Campus on “Sports Reporting: Then and Now”... Former Nebraska fullback Curtis Tomasevicz is part of the USA’s bobsled team, favored to take home the gold medal in Vancouver this month. Former Ole Miss lineman Bull Churchwell died on Jan. 22 at age 73... Former Colorado defensive back and CBS Sports commentator Tom Brookshier died at age 78.
