Wayne and Gladys Valley Foundation
Wayne Valley, the original owner of the Oakland Raiders, became involved with
The National Football Foundation through the Northern California Chapter and
its president, Bob Keropian. Eventually, Wayne's enthusiasm for the mission
of the NFF led him to become a member of The Foundation's Board of Directors.
When Wayne passed away in 1986, his wife, Gladys, continued the efforts of
the family's foundation and strengthened her involvement with the Northern
California Chapter. In 1994 Gladys played the key role in forging a grant
from the Wayne and Gladys Valley Foundation. The grant provided the NFF with
$50,000 a year for five years for its chapter scholar-athlete programs. Although
Gladys passed away in 1998 the Wayne and Gladys Valley Foundation has continued
to support the NFF.
In 1999 under the leadership of President Stephen Chandler, the Wayne and
Gladys Valley Foundation renewed their commitment for five more years with
increased funding for the chapter scholar-athlete program.
Each year, thanks to the continued generosity of the Wayne and Gladys Valley
Foundation, The National Football Foundation is able to make this sizable
grant available to the scholar-athletes from each qualifying chapter.

How to Apply
The Application Process:
The total grant amount allotted for each year is distributed to the
chapters based upon an incremental scale which correlates the amount of grant
money to be received with the number of members in the chapter at the end
of the calendar year. This scale is subject to change by year and can be seen
in the qualifications section [link to IV Chapters f. valley scholarship grant
ii. qualifications].
In the early Spring, chapter contacts will be notified by mail of the
amount in Valley grant money which they are eligible to receive.
Included in the notice is a Wayne and Gladys Valley Foundation Scholar-Athlete
Remittance Form. This form must be completed and returned in order for the
chapter to receive its allocated amount.
CHAPTERS MAY DISTRIBUTE THE AMOUNT OF THE VALLEY SCHOLARSHIP MONEY
AS THEY SEE FIT (it can be divided among as many scholar-athletes as they
want.)
ALL STUDENT-ATHLETES DESIGNATED TO RECEIVE VALLEY MONEY MUST HAVE A
REMITTANCE FORM SUBMITTED ON THEIR BEHALF.
How Grant Money is Dispersed
Stipulations for Disbursement:
Wayne and Gladys Valley Foundation Scholarship money may be used solely
to provide scholarship funds for college-bound high school scholar-athletes.
You must submit a remittance form for each scholar-athlete who is designated
to receive the Wayne and Gladys Valley Foundation Scholarship money.
Pursuant to NCAA guidelines, a scholar-athlete WHO HAS RECEIVED a full
athletic or full academic scholarship IS NOT ELIGIBLE. (NOTE: in such a case
the chapter may choose, at its discretion, to give the money to the student-athlete's
high school in his name - YOU MUST STILL PROVIDE THE STUDENT-ATHLETES INFORMATION
ON THE REMITTANCE FORM.)
