Member Biography

Don McCauley had a string of achievements at North Carolina. They went like this: 1968- Led team in pass receptions with 23. 1969- Had a 97-yard kickoff return against Georgia Tech. 1970-Led nation in all-purpose running with 183.7 yards per game in rushing, receiving, and kick returns. Led nation in scoring with 126 points. Had 21 touchdowns in 11 games. Had 47 carries against Duke. Was team captain. Named consensus All-America. He was player of the year in the Atlantic Coast Conference twice. He had 48 punts in his career with a 38.7 average yardage. North Carolina retired his jersey number 23. McCauley attended Garden City N.Y. High school. He played pro 11 years with the Baltimore Colts.
