Member Biography

Ron Yary is remembered as one of the great tackles in a long line of football stars at Southern California. He was good enough to be tabbed among the top National Football League draft choices following his graduation. Yary was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings and went on to a remarkable 15-year NFL career. He played 14 years with the Vikings and then finished his career in 1982 with the Los Angeles Rams. Ron was born in Chicago, Illinois, but moved to California at an early age. He attended Bellflower High School and spent a year at Cerritos Junior College before enrolling at USC. During Yary's three seasons, the Trojans compiled a 24-7-1 record and won the national championship in 1967. Ron was a consensus All-American as a junior in 1966 and a unanimous All-American choice in 1967. In his senior year he was also named the winner of the highly coveted Outland Trophy as America's best interior lineman, the first Trojan lineman to win the Outland. Ron graduated in 1968 with a degree in finance.
