NOTES:
A major shakeup occurred in the poll this week after top-ranked Alabama lost for the first time this season, and previously unbeaten and second-ranked Miami (Fla.) also fell. The Crimson Tide's Iron Bowl loss to Auburn meant it slipped out of first place for the first time this season in the poll. With Alabama and Miami both losing, Clemson became the new No. 1. Oklahoma moved up to No. 2, followed by No. 3 Auburn and No. 4 Wisconsin. Alabama dropped to No. 5 and Miami (Fla.) to No. 7. Washington State and Mississippi State dropped out of the poll after losses, and they were replaced by Stanford and LSU. Clemson received 31 of a possible 48 first-place votes with the other 17 first-place votes split among the next three teams.

The SEC led all conferences with four teams. The Big Ten and Pac-12 had three each. The ACC and Big 12 had two each. The American and Independents one each.

THIS WEEK'S SCHEDULE (All conference title games on Saturday unless otherwise noted):
No. 1 Clemson vs. No. 7 Miami [Fla.] (Charlotte, N.C.)
No. 2 Oklahoma vs. No. 10 TCU (Arlington, Texas)
No. 3 Auburn vs. No. 6 Georgia (Atlanta)
No. 4 Wisconsin vs. No. 8 Ohio State (Indianapolis)
Memphis at No. 12 UCF
No. 11 USC vs. No. 15 Stanford (Santa Clara, Calif.) on Friday.

ABOUT THE FWAA-NFF SUPER 16 POLL: The FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll was established at the conclusion of the 2013 season by long-time partners, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the National Football Foundation (NFF). Voters rank the top 16 teams in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, and the results will be released every Sunday of the 2017 season; the individual votes of all members will also be made public. The first poll was released Tuesday, Sept. 5 (to account for Labor Day games), and the final poll will be released Dec. 3. The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective. The poll utilizes a program designed by Sports Systems to compile the rankings.
