IRVING, Texas (Nov. 8, 2017) - The NFF is celebrating its 70th anniversary over the next several weeks by highlighting the key milestones of each decade in a weekly email with the content also promoted on its social media channels. The campaign will take a year-by-year look at some of the key events that have shaped the organization, distributing seven weekly releases covering each of the NFF's 10-year periods. The initiative is leading up to the 70th anniversary of the organization, which secured its charter from the State of New York on December 8, 1947

“From MacArthur to Manning, the NFF has always attracted many of our nation’s greatest leaders in support of our mission,” said NFF President & CEO Steve Hatchell. “And they have all shared our strong belief that college football plays a unique role in preparing young people for success later in life. It’s been a lot of fun researching our history, and we look forward to sharing some of our favorite milestones via this campaign.”

Founded by a group of passionate supporters, early contributors included General Douglas MacArthur, legendary Army coach Earl "Red" Blaik and the prolific journalist Grantland Rice, who served as the organization’s first president from 1948 to 1952. Over seven decades, the NFF has developed into a leading non-profit educational organization that runs programs designed to use the power of amateur football in developing scholarship, citizenship and athletic achievement in young people.
