Administrative Manager Position


College football will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2019. A non-profit corporation has been established to plan and administer the anniversary commemoration and related activities. A focus will be placed on showcasing the rich history and tradition of college football, its contribution to American society and culture while also promoting the opportunity the sport has provided and will continue to provide to thousands of student-athletes.

Kevin Weiberg, former Big 12 Conference commissioner, and deputy commissioner of both the Big Ten and Pac-12 conferences, is the executive director of College Football 150th Anniversary. The corporation maintains office space at the National Football Foundation offices, 433 East Las Colinas Blvd., Irving, TX. The anniversary will be celebrated in 2019 with planning activities occurring in 2017 and 2018. The corporation will cease its activities following the College Football Playoff national championship game in March 2020.

College Football 150th Anniversary is seeking an Administrative Manager reporting to the Executive Director.

Position Responsibilities

The Administrative Manager is responsible for the operations of the College Football 150th Anniversary office, related events and activities. The Administrative Manager will also perform financial management tasks as determined by the Executive Director and outside accounting firm. Assisting the Executive Director in budget management and human resources functions will also be part of the role.

Additional tasks will include:
• Management of IT, including policies for document retention, and maintenance of contact lists.
• Ordering and inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Assisting the Executive Director with the preparation of meeting materials, reports, and general correspondence.
• Assisting the Executive Director in the management of the 150th Anniversary calendar to ensure that deadlines are met.
• Working with outside vendors and affiliated organizations in the management of contracts and operational needs.

Position Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum 3-5 years experience in an intercollegiate athletics administrative role.
• Proficiency with MS Office and QuickBooks accounting software is desirable.
• Excellent time management skills, the ability to prioritize work and to manage deadlines.
• Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail.
• An ability to communicate effectively and efficiently.
• An appreciation and understanding of college football and the unique attributes of intercollegiate sports.
• Experience with event management.

Position Description

The Communications Manager is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and execution of the media and messaging strategy related to the campaign to commemorate the 150th anniversary of college football. The Communications Manager will report to the Executive Director and will be the primary liaison to the Communications/Public Affairs Committee and any outside agencies selected to assist with communications strategy. The Communications Manager will also coordinate media interviews and other requests of journalists related to the Anniversary celebration and may occasionally serve as a spokesperson for the initiative.

Position Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism, communications, public relations or sports management.
• Minimum of 3-5 years experience in sports communications work or a closely related field.
• Experience in managing and administering communications campaigns.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to create content for distribution across multiple media platforms including social media.
• An appreciation and understanding of college football and the unique attributes of intercollegiate sports.
• A demonstrated understanding of the media industry, particularly those entities that regularly cover college football.
• Experience working with advertising, public relations or communications agencies.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining and developing positive working relationships with journalists, broadcasters and stakeholders of the sport.
• Experience with event management is desirable.

Position Description

The Marketing Manager is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and execution of the overall campaign to commemorate the 150th anniversary of college football. The Marketing Manager will report to the Executive Director and will be the primary liaison to the Marketing/Events Committee and the agency selected to assist with the design of the overall campaign. The Marketing Manager will also play a key role in the execution of anniversary events and in managing relationships with outside vendors, sponsors and business partners.

Position Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a marketing role in intercollegiate or professional athletics.
• Experience in working with agencies in the creation, development and execution of marketing and promotional campaigns.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of a broad range of multimedia platforms.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and to maintain positive working relationships with vendors, sponsors and stakeholders.
• An appreciation and understanding of college football and the unique attributes of intercollegiate sports.
• Experience with event management.
